"If You Can Write It, You Can Shoot It!" - A Beginner's Guide to Video Storytelling

NOTE: This event runs both January 22 and January 23, from 9:30 am - 4:30 pm.

With the growing demand for multi-media storytelling, simply telling a story isn’t enough. Where’s the video? In this workshop, award-winning producer and story consultant Harvey Ovshinsky shares his “secret sauce” for creating low budget, high impact videos with:
* Professional (and student) journalists interested in making the transition from print and radio reporting to video production
* Broadcast and multi-media professionals as well as corporate and non-profit communicators eager to hone their storytelling skills
* Amateur and professional photographers and videographers looking for ways to improve the quality of their own narrative skills

Ovshinsky’s emphasis is less on the technology of video production and more on how to think and act like a producer in order to tell a story. He will also share his own experiences growing and sustaining a career in multi-media video production and provide constructive feedback to selected participants who submit samples of their work in advance.

Harvey Ovshinsky is a former producer for ABC and Post Newsweek in Detroit and director of production at WTVS-TV. His documentaries have been awarded broadcasting’s highest honors, including an Emmy, a Peabody, a duPont – Columbia University Award, and the American Film Institute’s Robert M. Bennett Award for Excellence.
